Established in 2018, the Taft Model United Nations Team is truly one of a kind. Following its creation, the Taft MUN Team has already attended "varsity" conferences and brought back awards. Now in its sophomore year, the team has shifted its focus on teaching the ways of Model United Nations to all newcomers, regardless of skill. With a much bigger team, this feat is to now be reached with the help of the new and expanded board. By creating new presentations as well as working on example speeches, the veterans of the team create a learning environment not found in many classrooms let alone teams. The friendly and relaxed environment helps debaters of all levels, including first-timers, prepare to compete in a "varsity" conference for their respective committee, skipping the "novice" level many other teams force new-comers to compete in.

 

A major bonus to the Taft team is the fact that many of veterans and even more so those on the board are part of Taft's elite debate team. This gives the Taft team an advantage as veterans of a higher caliber can teach debaters how to phrase questions and build arguments to undermine that of their opponents. 

 

With weekly meetings leading up to the upcoming conferences, the Taft Team is seeking to bring home an award from each committee competed in.
